This photo was taken in Seiser Alm (Alpe di Siusi), an Alpine Meadow in the Italian Dolomites, in September during my solo trip to the Alps. I drove into Seiser Alm and hiked into the meadow, which was a really nice easy walk and filmed sunset there. Of course, I enjoyed a PB&J while I watched a beautiful sunset and then hiked back to the car once it got dark. I slept in the car that night which was a brutal night sleep. Since my checked bag with sleeping bag and extra clothes was stuck in London, all I had where the clothes I’d been wearing that trip. A sweater, hoodie, and rain jacket were little comfort to the temperatures of the Alpine Meadow (elev. 3,200ft). In the morning I woke up before dawn and walked in filming yet another surreal sunrise, all to myself, and ate a delicious PB&J. After a few hours up there I hiked back to the parking lot which was now streaming with tourist all driving in and having to pay $30 to park there. Being at these locations at sunset and sunrise provide a unique experience of solitude. All in all pretty neat.
Below are some photos of the sunset from the evening prior:
